Bottom Line

Choose the G2 if you want discreet, prescription-friendly smart glasses with a sharp private display, long battery life, and strong productivity tools. Skip them if you need camera/audio features, polished navigation, seamless connectivity, or stronger value at $599.

Best for

Best for prescription-glasses wearers, presenters, and productivity-focused early adopters who want private, glanceable information without a camera on their face.

Not for

Not for buyers who want photos, music, calls, mature navigation, or a polished phone-extension experience at this price.

Verdict

Even Realities G2 succeeds most when it behaves like normal eyewear with quiet digital help layered on top. The slim titanium-and-magnesium frame, comfortable fit, bright text display, prescription support, long battery life, and excellent teleprompter make it unusually practical for work and everyday wear. Live captions, translation, notifications, and quick-list tools can also reduce how often you reach for a phone. The tradeoff is maturity: controls can be finicky, Bluetooth and app behavior are inconsistent, navigation quality varies sharply, and Even AI is not uniformly reliable. The camera-free design improves privacy and weight, but also means no photos, music, or calls. At $599 before prescription lenses or the optional ring, the G2 remains an expensive early-adopter product.

Cons highlights

  • 3.1

  • 2.2
    10 reviews moderate consensus
value for money: 2.2, 10 reviews, moderate consensus

Phone and ring connections have improved over time, but random disconnects and reconnecting remain a repeated frustration.
  • 3.4
    7 reviews low consensus
fitness tracking: 3.4, 7 reviews, low consensus
R1 health metrics are a secondary feature rather than a strength; testers described them as basic, inconsistent, or less useful than dedicated rings.
  • 3.4
    7 reviews low consensus
outdoor visibility: 3.4, 7 reviews, low consensus
Outdoor readability ranges from very good to washed out depending on background and sunlight; clip-on shades can help.

FAQ

Can the G2 replace regular prescription glasses?

For many prescription wearers, yes. Reviewers repeatedly praised the broad prescription support, integrated lenses, normal-glasses styling, and all-day comfort, though fit can still vary by face.

Does the G2 have a camera or speakers?

No. Reviewers often liked the privacy and lower weight that come from omitting them, but the tradeoff is no first-person photos or video, music playback, or calls through the glasses.

How good is the battery life?

It is one of the strongest areas. Reviewers commonly got a full day or more, often approaching two days, while the charging case adds multiple extra recharges.

Is the teleprompter useful?

Yes, it is one of the most consistently praised features, especially for presentations and speeches. A few reviewers still ran into control or eye-line quirks in live use.

How good is navigation?

It is mixed. Some reviewers found hands-free turn-by-turn directions genuinely useful, while others reported weak destination search, map data, positional errors, or cumbersome setup.

Do I need the R1 ring?

No. The glasses have their own touch controls, while the optional ring can make navigation more discreet and natural; several reviewers also criticized its price, reliability, or accidental inputs.
