Compare Cambridge Audio Melomania P100 SE Headphones vs Jabra Evolve3 85

Sound quality is the strongest repeated praise, described as detailed, clear, engaging, and high value for the price.

Music quality ranges from merely decent to excellent depending on the listener, but the broad pattern is work-first tuning rather than true flagship hi-fi. Voices and everyday listening fare better than demanding audiophile comparisons.

Microphone noise reduction is weaker than some competitors, with one reviewer saying it does not filter as much background noise.

ClearVoice removes an impressive amount of office, café, street, fan, and household noise while keeping speech understandable. Only a small amount of background sound occasionally leaks through in tougher outdoor use.

Frequency-response impressions are mixed because the SE sounds warmer and less flat than the original, even though the tonal balance can be adjusted.

One music-focused test described the presentation as true-to-life and full of character, with complex mixes staying composed.

Spatial audio is absent, which some reviewers list as a limitation, though others say the natural soundstage reduces the sting.

Spatial processing is often useful for making calls feel more natural and adding media depth. One listener found the music upmixing too boomy, so its value depends on content.

Soundstage is generally wide and spacious, though one reviewer heard it as more intimate than wide.

The stage is inconsistent across listeners: some hear a wide, dynamic presentation, while others find it enclosed or only average in width and depth.

Background noise reduction is viewed as improved and effective, but not the quietest in the class according to comparison-focused reviewers.

Residual noise depends heavily on environment: offices and steady machinery can become very quiet, while voices, traffic, and transport highs remain more noticeable for some users.

Immersion is praised through wide, effortless soundstage comments, even without spatial audio.

The headset can create a convincing, enveloping presentation for media, especially when spatial processing is used, though its core tuning remains work-focused.

Wear detection performed quickly but had a resume-side glitch that the reviewer wanted fixed.

Wear detection ranges from best-in-class behavior to frustrating inconsistency, making this one of the less settled smart features.

Wind handling is mixed: one review criticized wind noise in transparency mode, while another found ANC outdoor wind handling very good.

Wind handling is mixed: call-side wind reduction can work very well, but one tester still heard substantial wind through the listening experience.

Bass earns strong praise for impact and EQ potential, but some reviewers found the SE tuning too bass-forward or not fully controlled.

Bass is usually described as warm and usable, yet opinions split on impact: some hear strong, detailed low end while others find it light, vague, or lacking depth.

ANC is generally judged good or improved, though not always elite; reviewers praised effectiveness while noting Sony/Bose-class options can still outperform it.

ANC works well for offices and steady background noise, and some testers found it excellent. Others heard too much traffic, transport noise, or midrange sound for a headset at this price.

Passive noise isolation is a notable strength, with reviewers praising how much noise is blocked before ANC.

The over-ear fit usually provides strong passive isolation and helps the ANC, though one tester found the fabric cushions less isolating than expected.

aptX Lossless support is treated as part of the impressive specification.

Several testers specifically disliked the lack of aptX-class hi-res support, especially given the premium pricing.

Feature coverage is viewed positively, with reviewers noting modern ANC-headphone features and useful app-based controls.

The feature set is broad, but launch completeness drew criticism for missing desktop software and limited control over microphone AI processing.

Volume output is mixed: some found it loud enough or very loud, while another wanted more Bluetooth/3.5mm loudness.

One tester found the headset noticeably quieter than their regular over-ear headphones and needed a higher volume setting to reach the same loudness.

Portability is a weakness because the headphones and case are not especially compact.

Despite being over-ear, the headset folds exceptionally flat and takes up very little bag space. Its slim profile is repeatedly singled out as a travel advantage.

The off-white finish receives a small positive note for resisting a dirty-looking appearance over time.

The soft-touch finish looks clean but picks up visible fingerprints easily.

Sidetone/voice passthrough needs improvement according to one reviewer who wanted clearer, louder self-voice feedback.

Adjustable sidetone is consistently useful for hearing your own voice and avoiding speaking too loudly during calls.

Headband padding is one of the more divisive comfort points, ranging from improved and comfortable to stiff or not meaningfully changed.

Breathable headband cushioning feels excellent and reduces pressure during long work sessions.

Travel friendliness is mixed: battery life is excellent for long trips, but the large case and limited folding hurt portability.

The ultra-slim folded shape, light weight, compact case, and optional analog connection make the headset especially easy to travel with.

Aesthetics split reviewers: some liked the clean design and blue color, while another found the wide look silly when worn.

With no boom arm and a very slim silhouette, the headset blends into everyday use far better than conventional enterprise headsets.

Preset and DynamEQ-style tuning are useful but taste-dependent; some presets are usable while DynamEQ can be divisive.

Preset EQs are not a major strength; some have subtle effects, and one tester found they could thin out music.

Ear cup rotation is judged useful and flexible where reviewed.

The cups pivot and rotate freely enough for fitting, folding, and resting the headset around the neck.

Microphone quality is good in quiet conditions, but noise suppression is less impressive in background noise.

The six-mic boomless array is a major success, delivering clear professional speech without the visual bulk of a traditional microphone arm.

USB-C connectivity is positively mentioned as part of the wired-listening and cable package.

USB-C charging fits neatly into a modern desk setup, but one tester criticized the port for not supporting wired listening.

Treble is often praised for detail, shine, and sparkle, but DynamEQ can make the sound more aggressive for some listeners.

Treble is generally clean and non-fatiguing, though several listeners wanted more brightness, sparkle, or extension. Stronger impressions praise crisp detail without harshness.

Detail retrieval and instrument separation are praised in both written and hands-on listening tests.

Separation is mostly good, keeping vocals and instruments intelligible even in busier tracks. It still falls short of the precision some premium music-focused headphones deliver.

Android setup worked smoothly in the tested pairing flow, with the reviewer connecting quickly to a Samsung foldable device.

A Samsung/Android setup handled dual Bluetooth media output without the shared-audio restriction the tester encountered on iPad.

Wear-detection auto play/pause mostly worked but showed a brief audio cutout in one hands-on test.

Wear sensing can be excellent and convenient, but reliability varies by unit or setup; one tester saw frequent misses while others found it seamless.

Headband adjustability was not evaluated directly beyond factual mechanism mentions.

The adjustable headband is easy to dial in and works with the swiveling cups to produce a comfortable fit.

Included accessories are appreciated, especially the case and cable management touches.

The tested bundle includes a travel case, Bluetooth adapter, charging cable, and wireless pad, creating a complete setup for hybrid work.

Replaceable components receive praise where reviewers focus on the user-replaceable battery as a long-term ownership benefit.

Replaceable cushion components make wear parts easier to refresh and improve the headset’s long-term serviceability.

Sensor performance is mostly positive through wear-detection testing, though resume behavior had a minor glitch in one review.

The wear-sensing hardware can perform brilliantly, but at least one tester found it inconsistent enough to undermine auto-pause.

The hard case is generally sturdy and solid, but its size hurts compactness.

The compact case is unusually slim and easy to pack, with clever dongle storage in some versions. One tester thought its material felt less robust and disliked the lack of charger storage.

Premium feel is praised through materials, finish, and comparisons to more expensive headphones.

Metal accents, clean finishing, and quality plastics give the headset a convincingly premium look and feel.

Overall recommendations are very positive, especially for sound-first buyers and value seekers, with caveats around ANC, comfort, and bulk.

The strongest case is for professionals who spend much of the day on calls and value comfort, battery life, and voice isolation. Music-first buyers can find better ANC and audio value elsewhere.

Wear-detection auto-pause is fast, though the broader wear-detection behavior was not flawless.

Auto-pause is handy when it triggers and can work extremely well, but one test found music often continued after the headset was removed.

Replaceable earpads and battery-related serviceability are repeatedly praised as longevity-friendly.

Earpads are easy to replace on several tested configurations, improving comfort maintenance and product longevity.

Mids are frequently praised as clear, rounded, and strong with vocals or instruments.

Voices are a major sonic strength, with clear, natural mids that suit calls and vocal-heavy music. A few listeners found the overall tuning slightly recessed or softened outside that core range.

Sustainability and repairability are praised thanks to recyclable packaging, recycled materials, user-replaceable batteries, and removable pads.

Replaceable batteries and cushions are a major long-term ownership advantage, making the headset less disposable than most premium competitors.

Wired listening options are appreciated as part of the broader connectivity package.

Bluetooth, multipoint, a pre-paired adapter, and wired options give the headset unusually broad flexibility across office and personal devices.

Ear cup padding and space are generally praised for plushness, roominess, and comfort.

Breathable fabric cushions are soft, airy, and comfortable for long calls. Some testers wanted thicker or plusher padding, but heat control is generally better than leatherette.

LDAC is a clear omission for reviewers who expect high-res wireless codec support.

LDAC is absent, and multiple testers called that omission disappointing for buyers expecting premium music features.

Transparency mode ranges from natural and useful to merely acceptable and less airy than competitors.

HearThrough is generally clear and useful, with several testers calling it natural. One listener found it too quiet and less natural than leading consumer implementations.

Water resistance is a weakness because one reviewer warns users to be careful due to no rating.

The lack of an IP or water-resistance rating surprised one tester given the headset’s otherwise broad everyday ambitions.

Codec support is praised through aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless support, but wireless LDAC absence is a separate limitation.

LC3, AAC, and SBC fit the work-first mission, but the lack of higher-end music codecs is a repeated complaint at this price.

Value is one of the strongest themes, with reviewers repeatedly calling the P100 SE well priced or exceptional for sound quality per dollar.

Price is the dominant weakness. Businesses and call-heavy professionals may justify the premium, but many reviewers think personal buyers can get stronger music or ANC performance for less.

Multipoint generally works, but switching can require pausing and there is no automatic switching in one test.

Two-device switching is one of the strongest practical features, with laptop-and-phone handoffs repeatedly described as effortless or reliable. Adapter priority can affect media behavior in one setup.

Weight comfort is mixed to negative, with one reviewer calling it among the heaviest in class while another found it substantial but acceptable.

At roughly 220 grams, the headset feels unusually light for an over-ear model and repeatedly disappears on the head during long workdays.

Clamping force is mostly acceptable or well judged, though one review found the fit snug compared with rivals.

Clamp is secure without excessive pressure, helping the headset stay put while remaining comfortable.

Comfort is mixed: some reviewers found it comfortable or improved, while others criticized weight, snugness, or headband pressure over time.

Comfort is exceptionally consistent across long sessions, with multiple eight-hour or full-workday tests reporting little pressure or fatigue. The lightweight frame and roomy cups are central to that result.

Durability is judged positively through solid materials and a reviewer description of the headphones as durable overall.

One heavy user described the headset as robust after regular use and a couple of drops, supporting confidence in day-to-day toughness.

Design is usually viewed positively, especially the clean lines and color options, although the look is not universally loved.

The boomless, slim design is one of the product’s biggest successes, looking much more like premium everyday headphones than traditional office gear.

Build quality is consistently praised as sturdy, premium, or strong for the price, with only minor creaking noted in one review.

Materials and construction feel unusually solid and premium for a business headset, with metal used in key structural areas and little sense of hollowness.

Hinge feel and arm construction are praised for tightness, friction, and premium movement.

Metal hinge and mounting hardware create a solid, premium impression and support confidence in repeated folding.

Sustainability materials earn praise from TechRadar, especially the recycled plastic and driver material claims.

Recyclable packaging, recycled structural materials, and other sustainability choices are viewed positively alongside the repairable design.

The app is widely praised for EQ, controls, and clean layout, though one reviewer wanted clearer EQ frequency labeling.

The Jabra Plus experience is useful but uneven: some testers found it intuitive and feature-rich, while others called it slow, cumbersome, or too limited for consumer customization.

Smart listening features such as DynamEQ are useful for low-volume listening but not universally preferred.

Wear sensing and call-status touches can make daily use smoother, but the consumer-style automation set is less complete than on some flagship headphones.

Microphone quality itself is good in quiet conditions, even if background noise filtering is less strong.

Call quality is the standout feature: voices repeatedly come through clear, natural, and professional without a boom arm. Outdoor results are occasionally less perfect, but office performance is consistently exceptional.

EQ customization is a major strength, with reviewers praising the seven-band EQ and how well the headphones respond to tuning.

A five-band custom EQ and presets provide useful tuning control, though the adjustment range is basic compared with the best consumer apps.

Setup and software are generally smooth, clean, and intuitive, with fast firmware and app interactions noted.

Setup is usually straightforward, especially with Fast Pair, the dongle, or the correct UC variant. Enterprise model choices and occasional app quirks can still create confusion.

Voice assistant access worked cleanly in hands-on testing.

Hands-free assistant access works well for voice prompts and productivity tasks, with successful testing across AI assistants.

Bluetooth-related experiences were largely positive where judged through pairing and multipoint behavior.

Wireless performance is usually quick, stable, and easy to connect across work devices. One test reported noticeable stutters in busy open locations, but that is the exception.

Physical button controls are praised for usability and responsiveness.

Physical controls are generally clicky, direct, and easy to learn. The main criticism is a fiddly power switch and some right-hand bias in the layout.

Advanced software features such as DynamEQ and app changes are useful but taste-dependent, with some reviewers liking the added energy and others preferring simpler original tuning.

Hearing protection, sidetone, spatial processing, wind reduction, AI voice tools, and management features create a deep work-focused feature set. Some users still want more control over the AI microphone processing.

Smart Pause works quickly in hands-on testing, though one reviewer observed a brief audio glitch when resuming.

Automatic pause can be excellent when the sensing works, but one tester experienced frequent failures when removing the headset.

Battery life is one of the clearest strengths, repeatedly called excellent, incredible, extraordinary, or best-in-class.

The analog jack is a practical bonus for flights, entertainment systems, and wired listening, and several testers specifically appreciated having it.

RecordingNow gave the product a strong S-Tier expert score, reflecting award-style recognition in that review.

The all-angle call-status light is generally a handy way to signal “do not disturb” in shared spaces. One tester disliked the bright automatic red lights, but most found the cue practical.

Cable quality receives a positive note for the included USB-C and 3.5mm cables.

Detail varies by music and listener: some hear crisp fine information, while others find the presentation merely average and less precise than premium music headphones.

The USB adapter generally provides reliable, low-friction PC connectivity and may improve call performance in some setups. One configuration may still require an extra USB adapter.

Apple and Google device-finding support is a welcome cross-platform strength, but Apple’s restricted shared-audio ecosystem limits one specific use case.

Finding support is inconsistent by implementation: some tests praise Apple/Google tracking or an in-app find function, while another app-focused test reported no Find My Headphones tool.

A glasses wearer reported no discomfort during extended use, suggesting the fit handles eyewear well.

Clarity at higher volume is praised, with reviewers noting strong clarity and no distortion at raised levels.

The UC version works well for people moving across Teams, Meet, Zoom, and other work platforms instead of staying locked to one service.

Most testers are highly positive about the work experience, especially calls, comfort, and battery life. Satisfaction drops when judged as a premium consumer headphone rather than a professional tool.

Fit and wireless behavior are both strong in the positive tests, with the headset staying put and connections remaining stable through real-world movement.

ANC's effect on the sound signature is mixed: one review praised the lack of tonal shift, while another found ANC-on tuning messier on the SE.

ANC sound impact is similarly split, with TechRadar praising tonal consistency and RecordingNow hearing a more problematic change with ANC on.

Gaming/low-latency performance was judged snappy and suitable for videos and fast-paced games.

Dynamics are polarizing, ranging from wide and lively in one test to lacking energy and excitement in another.

One reviewer heard slight creaking during movement, but described it as minor.

Fast charging is universally praised, and Qi charging is an unusually convenient bonus for desk use. A few minutes on power can add hours of runtime.

Voice prompts stand out positively, especially the Matt Berry/Southwark option.

Breathable fabric reduces sweat compared with faux leather, though ears can still warm up after an hour or more in humid conditions.
