Compare Meze Audio 105 Silva Headphones vs SIVGA SV021 Robin

The 105 Silva is widely described as rich, engaging, and highly musical, with strong clarity and cohesion. The main dissent is that its colored upper-range tuning can trail cheaper neutral competitors for listeners focused only on acoustic accuracy.

The Robin delivers an energetic, warm and engaging sound that many listeners find unusually enjoyable for the price. Its appeal is taste-dependent because bass weight and bright treble can overpower refinement.

Isolation is minimal, as expected from an open-back headphone, though the rear damping provides a small amount of attenuation. It remains best suited to quiet rooms rather than noisy public spaces.

Passive isolation ranges from decent to surprisingly weak depending on seal and fit. It can reduce fans and household noise, but it is not a dependable substitute for ANC in loud environments.

Most reviewers found the overall balance coherent and carefully controlled rather than strictly neutral. Its warm-bright coloration and upper-mid or treble emphasis can sound natural to some listeners and noticeably colored to others.

The Robin’s lively V-shaped tuning favors bass and treble over strict neutrality. Fans call it fun and versatile; critics find the response uneven, colored and unsuitable for monitoring.

Leakage is lower than some reviewers expected from an open-back design, likely helped by rear mesh damping. It is still not private enough for shared quiet spaces.

Leakage is generally low enough for home use, though some reviewers hear more escape than expected from a closed-back design. Seal and cup venting appear to influence the result.

Bass is usually praised for speed, texture, punch, and control without muddying the mids. Opinions split on quantity: some hear satisfying bloom and warmth, while others find the sub-bass restrained, dry, or lacking slam.

Bass is usually described as warm, punchy and satisfying, especially for casual listening and games. The main disagreement is control: some hear tight, textured lows, while others hear bloated, muddy bass that masks the mids.

Accurate direction, distance rendering, and strong immersion make the Silva excellent for cinematic and general gaming. Competitive FPS players may prefer a more focused stock tuning or use EQ to reduce distracting ambience.

Gaming is a standout use case thanks to comfort, punch, spaciousness and useful positional detail. It works especially well for long single-player or casual sessions, though a microphone requires an add-on.

The stage is commonly spacious, layered, and well organized, with convincing depth and placement. It is not universally wide, however, and some listeners found it surprisingly intimate or narrow for an open-back.

Soundstage is frequently praised as wide and airy for a closed-back headphone, with useful depth for games and music. A few reviewers instead find it intimate or cramped.

The combination of warmth, layering, imaging, and open-back space creates an intimate yet enveloping presentation. Music and environmental game audio can feel especially involving and three-dimensional.

Games and music can feel unusually engaging for a budget closed-back, with strong low-end impact and enough spatial depth to create an immersive presentation.

The drivers generally stay controlled, punchy, and dynamic at louder levels. Extremely loud, dense material can become crowded, but normal high-volume listening remains clean.

High-volume listening exposes the Robin’s biggest sonic weakness: treble can become sharp, sibilant or painful, and bass may lose control. Moderate volume is consistently safer.

The moderate clamp and articulating cups keep the headphone secure through normal head movement. Reviewers noted little slippage while still retaining comfort.

The light clamp can keep the Robin comfortable, but it also makes stability inconsistent. Smaller heads are most likely to experience slipping or a loose seal.

Nearly every component can be disassembled, serviced, or replaced with ordinary tools. This modular approach is repeatedly praised as rare and commendable at the price.

Replaceable pads improve serviceability, but some owners describe failed glued components or nonstandard interfaces as difficult to repair. Repair prospects therefore depend heavily on the part that fails.

The broad suspended strap spreads pressure comfortably across the crown instead of creating a single hotspot. Its cushioning and geometry contribute heavily to the easy long-session fit.

Headband padding is adequate for many because the headphone is light, but it is much less plush than the earpads. Larger heads are more likely to notice pressure from the thin band.

The contoured hard or semi-hard case receives universal praise for sturdiness, fit, and useful accessory storage. It provides reassuring protection for travel or home storage.

The included pouch is pleasant for storage and scratch protection, but most reviewers do not consider it a true protective travel case.

The wired 3.5 mm and USB-C paths cover common sources, but the stock package lacks balanced 4.4 mm or XLR connectivity. Reviewers repeatedly wished for a balanced cable option.

The detachable dual-entry cable and adapters provide useful wired flexibility, including aftermarket balanced-cable options. The uncommon connector arrangement may make replacements less convenient.

Most reviewers recommend the 105 Silva for listeners who value comfort, craftsmanship, natural timbre, and an engaging rather than clinical sound. Reservations focus on treble sensitivity, bass preferences, and stronger pure-sound competitors.

Recommendations are enthusiastic for comfort-first listeners who enjoy energetic tuning, gaming and attractive materials. Neutrality seekers, treble-sensitive listeners and buyers prioritizing proven durability are often told to look elsewhere.

The self-adjusting suspension headband slides into place automatically and distributes pressure across the top of the head. Most found it effortless, though one reviewer warned that smaller heads may not get an ideal fit.

The adjustment hardware usually feels secure, but the sizing range divides owners. Smaller heads often cannot shorten the headband enough, while some larger heads dislike how the basic band distributes weight.

Treble brings air, definition, and crisp transient detail without constant harshness. Several reviewers still heard a bright or sizzly upper peak that can expose aggressive recordings and reduce naturalness.

Treble supplies sparkle, air and impressive detail, but it is the most polarizing part of the sound. Sibilance, sharp peaks and fatigue appear repeatedly, especially on bright recordings or at higher volume.

The package is unusually complete, typically including a fitted case, cable pouch, adapters, and a USB-C DAC dongle. Reviewers saw the thoughtful organization and presentation as part of the premium experience.

The cable, 6.35mm adapter and soft pouch cover basic home-listening needs. The package is functional rather than lavish, and the lack of a hard case is the common omission.

Separation is one of the clearest strengths: vocals, instruments, and background textures remain easy to follow even in busy passages. Stereo movement and positioning stay coherent without sounding artificially pulled apart.

Imaging and separation are often impressive for the price, helping both gaming cues and layered music. Complex or bass-heavy passages can become less organized and blur individual parts.

High sensitivity lets the 105 Silva play loudly from laptops, phones, dongles, and modest amplifiers. It does not need a powerful desktop stack to reach satisfying levels.

The Robin can reach strong listening levels from modest sources, including controllers and small amplifiers. Weak laptop or phone outputs may sound quieter or thinner.

Vocals and instruments usually come through with excellent presence, texture, and separation. Depending on the recording and source, upper mids can sound forward or sharp, while some lower mids feel slightly recessed.

The midrange is the most common tuning compromise. Some hear clear, detailed vocals, but many describe lower mids as recessed, distant or masked by bass.

Dual 3.5 mm connections make the cable removable and serviceable, but the recessed sockets favor slim barrels. Aftermarket choices are workable, though less universal than on the 105 AER.

Detachable leads make cable replacement and swapping straightforward, a valuable benefit given the stock cable complaints. The dual 2.5mm arrangement is less common than standard single-entry designs.

The secure fit, detachable cable, USB-C adapter, and excellent case help with transport. Its open-back leakage and poor isolation still make it a home, hotel, or quiet-office headphone rather than a commuter model.

The long cable, cable noise, soft pouch and limited isolation make the Robin better suited to home use than commuting. Careful walking or office use is possible with a replacement cable.

Walnut accents, metal structure, clean assembly, and refined touchpoints make the headphone feel genuinely luxurious. Even critical reviewers agreed the physical experience matches a high-end product.

Wood cups, metal parts and soft upholstery give the Robin a distinctly premium feel for its price. That impression can fade when cable, pad or finish issues appear.

The soft velour or suede pads are breathable, plush, and comfortable over long sessions. A few larger-eared listeners noted limited internal room, but actual discomfort was uncommon.

The thick memory-foam pads are exceptionally soft and deep, often preventing ear contact with the driver. Heat, compression and covering separation are the main pad-related complaints.

The cups articulate enough to conform securely around the ears and maintain a good seal. Movement is slightly more resistant than on the 109 Pro but remains effective in use.

The cups tilt but do not offer full swivel or folding. Soft pads compensate for many users, though the limited movement contributes to fit problems for some head shapes.

The production cable is often praised for sturdy construction, reinforcement, and low tangling. Complaints center on occasional microphonics, springiness, and the lack of a balanced termination.

The braided stock cable looks and feels upscale to many reviewers, but cable noise and premature failures recur often in customer feedback. Replacement cables are commonly recommended.

The 105 Silva is easy to drive from phones, laptops, and dongles, yet better DACs and amplifiers can improve articulation, bass depth, and stage. Source matching matters, but high power is not required.

The Robin is generally easy to drive from laptops, phones, dongles and console controllers. Better amplification can add some separation or low-end control, but most reviewers found expensive power unnecessary.

Soft pads wrap around glasses arms without creating pressure, and the clamp remains comfortable. Reviewers wearing glasses reported no meaningful fit penalty.

The soft pads generally maintain comfort and a usable seal with glasses. Fit still depends on head size and frame shape.

Easy drive requirements make the headphones portable-friendly from an electronics standpoint, but the large open-back design is not truly mobile. They neither isolate well nor suit commuting despite the protective case.

The cups do not fold and have limited rotation, so the Robin is mainly a home or desk headphone. A few users still find it portable enough for careful carrying.

The earpads detach cleanly despite their tightly integrated appearance, making routine replacement possible without compromising the refined design.

Earpad replacement is described as simple on the reviewed sample, using a clean bayonet-style release. Replaceability helps offset concerns about pad wear.

Fine detail is generally strong, especially in vocals, percussion, and layered arrangements. A few reviewers found it less resolving than planar or higher-tier alternatives, and one felt some apparent detail came from treble emphasis.

Many reviewers hear strong detail retrieval for a closed-back headphone at this price, especially in treble, games and simpler arrangements. Heavy bass and recessed mids can hide information in dense tracks.

Enthusiasm is high overall, with many reviewers calling the Silva a standout, a major step forward, or a headphone they would revisit often. The few mixed reactions come from treble coloration and sound-value concerns.

Most owners enjoy the Robin’s combination of comfort, styling and lively sound, and many call it a favorite. Dissatisfaction is concentrated around tuning preferences, fit and failures after purchase.

The easy-to-drive wired design works with computers, phones, dongles, and desktop audio gear. The included adapters reduce the need for platform-specific equipment.

The wired design worked plug-and-play across multiple tested sources, including computers, consoles and controllers.

Replaceable parts, sturdy materials, and screw-based assembly give the 105 Silva strong long-term ownership prospects. Reviewers expect it to remain serviceable for many years rather than become a throwaway product.

Long-term reliability is the clearest ownership risk. Repeated reports mention failed cables, one-sided audio, peeling pads, loose coverings and breakdowns within months, despite strong initial build impressions.

Clamp is generally secure and evenly distributed without painful pressure. It can feel a little firm at first, yet the soft pads and bendable spring-steel frame keep it manageable.

The light clamp helps comfort, yet fit is highly head-dependent. Some get a secure, pressure-free seal, while smaller heads can experience looseness and larger heads may feel concentrated pressure.

Comfort is a standout strength, with plush pads, effective weight distribution, and a self-adjusting suspension strap. Most reviewers could wear it for hours, though very large ears or unusually small heads may encounter fit issues.

Plush pads, low weight and gentle pressure make long sessions a major strength for most owners. A minority report crown pressure, poor fit or heat that eventually reduces comfort.

Construction is consistently described as outstanding, with precise assembly, premium materials, and unusually refined detailing. The chassis feels robust and cohesive rather than mass-market or disposable.

Real wood, metal hardware and tidy finishing make the Robin feel unusually substantial for the price. A smaller group reported rattles, cosmetic flaws or quality-control problems that undercut that premium first impression.

The walnut-trimmed, mid-century-inspired design is the strongest consensus point. Reviewers repeatedly called it elegant, distinctive, modern-vintage, and among the best-looking headphones in its class.

The natural wood cups and coordinated metal-and-leather look are among the Robin’s most consistently praised qualities. Reviewers often say it appears far more expensive than its price.

Although the 105 Silva is not exceptionally light on paper, the suspension design spreads its weight effectively. Reviewers repeatedly said it feels lighter on the head than the number suggests.

Its roughly 275-gram weight is widely praised for reducing fatigue and helping the plush pads feel almost weightless. The lightweight feel occasionally reads as cheap to a few buyers.

Most reviewers see strong value in the combination of sound, comfort, accessories, repairability, and premium construction. A minority argue that cheaper headphones can outperform it acoustically if design and ownership quality are ignored.

The wood construction, comfort and lively performance make the Robin feel like strong value around its usual price. Reliability complaints are the main reason some owners no longer consider it a bargain.

The standard 3.5 mm analog connection is secure and broadly compatible with conventional wired sources. Opinions about the narrow recessed cup sockets are covered separately under cable convenience.

The understated wood-and-metal styling appeals to gamers who want something classier than flashy, LED-heavy headsets.

One owner reported excellent performance with an LG G8X, though phones without a headphone jack may still need an adapter.

One reviewer ranked the 105 Silva among the highlights of a major high-end audio show, despite competition from far more expensive flagships.

The bundled USB-C DAC/amp is a convenient way to use phones and laptops immediately. It is viewed as a useful starter or backup solution rather than a replacement for a high-quality dedicated source.

The optional boom microphone installs quickly and clicks into place, though the attachment can rotate during animated use.

The tiny included USB-C dongle is a welcome way to connect modern phones and laptops. Reviewers see it as a convenient starter or backup rather than an audiophile-grade source.

The optional boom microphone is removable and converts the headphone into a gaming headset without a complicated setup.

The pads and suspension headband can be removed and replaced rather than forcing a full headphone replacement. Owners can refresh the main wear components as they age.

The included USB-C adapter makes phone and laptop listening straightforward despite the wired design. Reviewers appreciated having modern digital connectivity in the box.

Testing on Xbox Series S produced strong gaming detail, dialogue clarity and an easy wired setup.

With the optional boom-mic cable, the inline volume and mute controls are simple and work well.

The optional boom mic keeps speech intelligible, but the captured voice can sound thin or hollow and may lose lower-register body.

Several owners describe unanswered warranty messages or unhelpful support after cable, pad or driver failures. This is a repeated concern rather than an isolated complaint.

One owner heard the drivers crinkle whenever head movement changed the pad seal, making an otherwise comfortable fit distracting.

The optional boom mic is sensitive enough to pick up background noise, so its noise rejection is limited.

Closed cups and protein-leather pads trap heat during long sessions, and humid-weather users report substantial sweat. This is a notable drawback for summer, workouts and non-air-conditioned rooms.
