Compare Eureka Airspeed Ultra-Lightweight Vacuum vs Oreck Commercial XL Vacuum Cleaner

Ease of use was split: simple controls and setup earned praise, but a lab review found the minimalist design less user-friendly in practice.

Ease of use is a strength, especially because the machine is simple, light, and easy to operate.

High-pile and thick-carpet feedback was notably better, with one lab test scoring above average and another reviewer praising deep carpet pickup.

High-pile carpet performance is weak to mixed, with cereal and plush/high-pile results drawing repeated criticism.

On ordinary fitted carpet, reviewers described pickup as pretty good in short demonstrations.

Medium-pile deep cleaning was poor in one test, where it posted the worst score in that commercial-vacuum series.

Large-debris handling was a weakness in tougher tests, where Cheerios or rice were pushed or plowed instead of cleanly collected.

Clog prevention gets limited positive support from the direct-air design being described as unlikely to clog.

Tool feedback was mixed: reviewers liked having a wand or basic tool set at the price, but another called the included attachments very basic.

Tools and accessories are a major limitation because reviewers noted no accessory hose, no attachments, and no extra accessories.

Under-furniture cleaning was criticized because the vacuum was not good at getting under surfaces such as beds.

Under-furniture reach is consistently positive thanks to low profile and flat-lay capability.

Reach was mixed: one reviewer liked the hose for counter-height cleaning, while others wished the wand or hose were longer.

Hose capability is a major weakness because reviewers noted the lack of an accessory hose, hose, or wand.

Above-floor cleaning was mixed, with one reviewer finding the dusting tool decent and another finding upholstery cleaning ineffective.

Above-floor pickup is poor because the product lacks a hose or wand for off-floor debris.

Hard-floor seal performance was weak in one test, where debris kicked backward from under the head.

The hard-floor seal is mixed: one reviewer liked reduced scattering, while another only said the squeegee helps despite hard-floor limitations.

One review found some versatility through the wand for furniture and ceilings, but only in a qualified way.

Versatility is limited because reviewers repeatedly framed it as poor for whole-home use or anything outside a narrow use case.

Emptying was consistently praised as simple, quick, and easy through the release-button canister design.

Emptying and mess control are mixed because one owner found the bag system less tech-forward than a pop-out bin.

Dust containment evidence conflicted, with one review criticizing the unsealed system while another found it unlikely to worsen sensitivity issues.

Filtration evidence is weak overall: one reviewer found standard-bag filtration very poor, and another raised dust-emission concerns with paper bags.

Overall opinion was split between strong budget praise from video reviewers and a much harsher lab review that placed it near the bottom.

Overall opinion is mixed-to-negative: one owner loves it, but multiple test reviewers found it narrow, loud, or hard to recommend.

Pet-readiness was divided: one lab-style review found pet hair performance poor, while a family-use review said regular vacuuming solved their cat-hair problems.

Pet-ready value is mainly hair pickup; one test found it collected most laid-out hair.

Reviewers liked the dust bin size and easy-empty canister, describing it as sizable, big, and slow to fill.

The bag system is simple but mixed; reviewers contrasted it with more modern dump-out bins while also noting simple bag changing.

Reviewers framed it as an entry-level or simple-task vacuum rather than a serious long-term heavy-duty cleaner.

Heavy-duty suitability is context-dependent: it is praised for office or commercial low-pile use, but one reviewer questioned actual commercial suitability.

Low-pile or standard carpet results ranged from poor lab performance to very strong owner demonstrations, making this a mixed attribute.

Low-pile carpet performance is split: one test found terrible shallow-carpet rice pickup, while another found near-perfect low-pile results.

Maintenance feedback was mixed, with one review frustrated by a non-removable brush roll and another liking how simple filter access was.

Maintenance is mixed: costs and belt access are praised, but frequent belt replacement is a drawback.

Hard-floor fine debris results were highly inconsistent but mostly negative, with repeated reports of sand or grit being kicked back or scattered.

Fine-dust hard-floor pickup is weak, with reviewers reporting dragging, multiple passes, leftover debris, and failure to suck up fine dust.

Hard-floor large-debris intake was weak in multiple tests, with snowplowing and scattered debris noted.

Large hard-floor debris pickup is poor across reviews, especially cereal, Cheerios, and heavier objects.

Cord management received a positive mention for the wrap hooks keeping the cord tidy.

Cord management has limited positive support from the quick-release cord hook and strain relief.

The vacuum was broadly praised as lightweight, although two reviews noted that carpet suction or awkward handling can make it feel heavier in use.

Weight is a major strength, with reviewers repeatedly emphasizing how light and easy to push the vacuum is.

Cord length received positive comments from reviewers who called it decently long or nice and long.

Cord length is a consistent strength across reviews, with reviewers calling the cord long, sturdy, and useful.

Handling was one of the most mixed areas: the vacuum is light, but several reviewers disliked the non-swivel head and carpet resistance.

Handling is only average: reviewers liked the light feel but criticized mediocre maneuvering and a zero-degree turning radius.

Carpet hair pickup was split, ranging from untouched pet hair in lab testing to several reviewers reporting easy cat-hair pickup.

Carpet hair pickup is one of the better cleaning areas, with one test collecting 89% of pet hair and another saying it did all right.

Only one reviewer evaluated noise directly and praised the vacuum as quieter than other vacuums they had used.

Noise is a consistent weakness, with multiple reviewers calling it loud or among the loudest vacuums tested.

Reviewers generally found the AirSpeed strong for its size and price, with measured airflow and repeated praise for suction, though one budget roundup still placed it below pricier uprights.

Power impressions split: one test measured decent airflow and strong crevice pickup, while another said fine dust and heavier objects were not sucked up well.

In one standardized pickup test it was acceptable but clearly not among the best performers.

Comparative performance is mixed-to-weak because reviewers praised some traits but often preferred other models or product lines.

One budget test criticized blowback from an unsealed system, saying fine dust and dirt could return to the room.

Airflow blowback and scattering are a hard-floor weakness, with oats, cat litter, and debris being flung or shot backward.

One reviewer praised the included second filter as a nice ownership touch.

Ownership costs are a strength, with evidence of low annual maintenance costs and inexpensive parts.

Edge cleaning varied sharply, with budget testing saying it missed edges and one demonstration saying it cleaned right to the edge.

Edge cleaning is mixed: one test praised edging, while another found the belt side performed horribly along edges.

The low-profile design was weak because one review said it was not good for cleaning under surfaces.

The low-profile body is a strength for getting under furniture and obstacles.

Durability impressions ranged from plasticky but maybe serviceable for a few years to one family calling it tried-and-true after a year.

Longevity evidence is polarized, with one owner praising years of family use and another technician warning the motor failure effectively ends the machine.

The floorhead drew mixed reactions: the brush roll impressed at the price, but the no-height-adjustment/basic design caused snowplowing and poor debris behavior.

Floorhead design is a recurring weakness, with complaints about a low cleaning head, poor front pickup, narrow path, and ineffective side bristles.

Build quality was polarized, with one review calling it plasticky and others saying it felt high quality or did not feel cheap.

Build quality is mixed: one owner praised toughness, one review liked commercial durability features, and a repair-focused review criticized failure-prone parts.

One owner-style review said assembly and setup were very easy.

Assembly is straightforward according to one reviewer, who found the guide clear and setup simple.

Value depended heavily on price: some called it one of the best cheap uprights, while others said full list price made it less compelling.

Value is mixed: reviewers praised the bargain price and maintenance cost, but one test site found it overpriced for the performance.

Controls were consistently described as simple, especially the foot-style power control and basic operation.

Controls are consistently praised as simple, with reviewers describing basic on/off switch operation.

Automatic floor transition has limited positive evidence, with one reviewer saying it moves from hard floors to carpets easily.

Area-rug performance was praised strongly in the dedicated rug test.

Crevice and groove pickup is mixed, from leftover flour in cracks in one review to best-in-series crevice pickup in another.

Hard-floor hair pickup has limited mixed-positive support from one reviewer who said it did okay on pet hair.

Hair-wrap resistance was mixed, with one reviewer impressed by a clean brush roll and other testing finding tangles with long hair.

Innovation gets limited praise from one reviewer who liked Oreck's unique ideas despite disliking this model overall.

Onboard tool storage was praised as convenient and nicely designed.

Surface-protection durability gets one positive note for the non-marring bumper and replaceable protective plastic.

Small-space suitability was a consistent bright spot, especially for dorm rooms, first apartments, or simple apartment cleaning.

The wand and hose changeover drew a caveat because one reviewer warned users not to forget reconnecting the tube properly.

The commercial styling was judged purely functional, with one reviewer saying the looks are unimpressive.

Stair cleaning is a clear weakness because the lack of an accessory hose made stairs exceptionally difficult.

Reliability support is a concern in the repair review because some housings were often unavailable.
