Subscription opinions were mixed: reviewers liked that subscriptions are not mandatory for core storage, but criticized reduced free cloud storage and paid premium AI/cloud features.

Face recognition was praised where available, but reviewers consistently treated it as a paid Nest Aware feature.

Face recognition is a major attraction and often works well, especially for automation and named alerts, though setup and training can be harder than rival systems.

The tall 3:4 framing was repeatedly praised for porch and package visibility, though reviewers also noted limited side coverage and a narrower field of view.

The wider/taller framing was one of the strongest upgrades, helping capture people and sometimes packages better than the earlier 16:9 design.

Latency was praised in testing, with live view described as less than a second behind real time.

Latency and live-view speed were mostly positive, with instant or subsecond responses reported, though Wi-Fi strength still affected performance.

One reviewer found motion capture responsive enough to catch movement as he came around the corner.

Motion detection was one of the most consistent strengths, with mmWave presence detection repeatedly credited for cutting false alerts and improving reliability.
