Compare Samsung HW-Q990D Soundbar vs Creative Stage Pro Soundbar

Smart features were generally praised, especially Q-Symphony, Private Rear Sound, useful modes, and Samsung ecosystem extras.

Smart features are limited, with reviewers pointing to absent Wi-Fi streaming, no richer feature set, and missing app EQ support.

EQ and sound customization were praised through the app, especially channel levels, EQ tools, and near-total control.

EQ customization is helpful for bass/treble adjustment, but reviewers criticized subtle presets and the lack of deeper app-based band control.

On-device controls received positive but limited evidence as useful when the remote is unavailable.

On-device controls are useful as backup basics, with reviewers appreciating physical buttons, though fuller control still depends on the remote.

Bluetooth connection evidence was limited but positive, with one reviewer saying it worked as advertised despite feeling awkward on a premium system.

Bluetooth stability is positive in the limited evidence, with quick pairing and clear, crisp playback reported.

Dolby Atmos height effects were repeatedly praised as immersive, overhead, and convincing, though one reviewer wanted more true above-you sensation.

Height/Atmos-style performance is limited; reviewers treated SuperWide as a partial substitute, but it is not true Dolby Atmos and does not match Atmos effects.

Inter-speaker connectivity was reliable in review use, with no dropouts, flawless connection, easy power-only satellite use, and automatic sync comments.

Inter-speaker connectivity is simple but cable-heavy: reviewers noted the wired subwoofer and overall cable load as practical constraints.

HDMI eARC was recommended as the best wired route for reliability and sound quality.

HDMI ARC support is convenient when it works, but reviewers reported ARC-only limitations, missing eARC, and one serious volume-step issue.

Weight and size convenience was a mild drawback: reviewers noted the bar is large, heavy, and best matched with bigger TVs.

The bar’s compact, lightweight body was praised as easy to handle and set up individually.

Status indicators were a common complaint because the small front display was hard to read, limited, or nearly useless for settings.

Status indicators are useful but imperfect: reviewers appreciated clear source/input displays, while others found the standby or dark-room display too bright.

Rear speaker cable feedback was mixed: one review praised extra-long power cables, while others wanted longer cables or noted shorter rear-speaker runs.

Speaker/subwoofer cable placement is a recurring limitation, with the wired sub restricting where reviewers could place it in TV or couch setups.

Cohesion was praised through seamless surround handoffs, integrated bass, refined delivery, and a warm detailed presentation.

Overall presentation is consistently competent for the price, often described as cohesive, versatile, and all-around, though not premium or cinematic at scale.

Home theater integration was strong, especially with compatible Samsung TVs through Q-Symphony, though benefits depend on TV ownership.

Home theater integration works best in small rooms, desktops, bedrooms, or dens; reviewers consistently warn it is not ideal for large rooms or big TVs.

Reviewers consistently described a balanced profile with clear mids and treble, controlled bass, and only occasional low-end muddiness or content-dependent tuning caveats.

Tonal balance earns praise for warmth, fullness, and clean treble in some reviews, but others note boosted mids/highs, muddiness, or tinniness depending on content.

Dialogue clarity drew strong agreement, with reviewers repeatedly saying voices stayed clear through dense movie mixes, sports, and dialogue-heavy content.

Dialogue clarity is usually a standout, with many reviewers praising crisp, intelligible speech, though one review strongly criticized muffled dialogue in action-heavy content.

Detail retrieval was praised for fine effects, instrument separation, and precision, though one reviewer said it lacked the highest premium detail.

Detail retrieval is generally good for the price, especially dialogue, treble, games, and moderate volumes, though busy mixes and some effects lose clarity.

Remote usability was mixed: some found it simple or well-designed, while others criticized cumbersome adjustments and missing shortcuts.

The remote is generally useful and sometimes praised, but reviewers warned not to lose it and noted quirks such as limited onboard backup or awkward behavior.

Most reviewers reported clean output or very low compression at high volume, though a few heard subwoofer crackle, chuffing, or stress on extreme bass passages.

High-volume behavior is mixed: several reviewers heard little or no distortion, while others found the system strained, sharp, or less pleasant when pushed hard.

Dynamic headroom was praised for big volume shifts, impact differences, and enough dynamic range for cinematic material.

Dynamic headroom is praised in limited evidence, with reviewers noting punchy dynamics and a cinematic feel rather than flat presentation.

Reviewers found the system loud enough for large rooms and cinematic impact, with only contextual concerns about using that power in smaller spaces.

Reviewers generally found the compact bar louder than expected, with enough output for bedrooms, desks, and small living rooms, though room-filling scale is limited.

Voice clarity was a strength overall, especially with dialogue aids, though one reviewer found voice processing hit-and-miss and another chose to leave it off.

Voice clarity is split: several reviewers heard clear vocals, while one found vocals pushed back in music and dialogue-heavy scenes.

Stereo imaging was generally praised, especially with music and front/rear speaker modes, though it remains a soundbar-based presentation.

Stereo imaging is a weak point overall, with repeated comments about narrow, localized sound, limited separation, and stronger performance only near the sweet spot.

Soundstage height was a clear strength, with reviewers describing height, overhead scale, and dome-like placement.

Height and driver-aiming benefits depend heavily on placement; reviewers noted the angled drivers and fake-Atmos presentation but not true height immersion.

Audio format support was praised for covering key formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS variants, though some mentions were primarily factual.

Audio format support is serviceable for the price, with Dolby Digital/Plus noted, but reviewers repeatedly call out missing Atmos and eARC-related limits.

Surround performance was one of the strongest areas, with reviewers describing immersive, room-filling effects and convincing movement around the listening position.

SuperWide and surround simulation are useful but imperfect; reviewers liked the wider, more immersive effect, while also noting lost definition, gimmickry, or fake-Atmos limits.

Latency evidence was positive, with reviewers reporting synced audio/video and no added delay from HDMI pass-through.

Latency evidence is mixed: one reviewer saw no Bluetooth delay with a projector, while another noticed brief audio skips during UHD Blu-ray playback.

Wired input evidence was mixed: reviewers praised eARC and wired reliability but criticized the absence of analog inputs.

Wired connectivity is consistently praised, especially HDMI ARC, optical, USB-C, and aux support, with USB-C helping the bar fit TV, console, and PC setups.

Low-volume features were useful for late-night listening, though they involved compromises such as reduced dynamics or rear-only playback.

Low-volume performance is mixed: low-level dynamics and late-night control are praised, but HDMI volume steps can be too coarse or loud.

The subwoofer was widely praised for power, punch, and integration, though reviewers disagreed on whether it was earth-shaking enough or fully refined.

The wired subwoofer is a major strength for the price, adding punch, warmth, and bass weight, though it does not reach deep premium-subwoofer performance.

Optical input was treated as a fallback because it lacks Dolby Atmos and was framed as a compromised connection compared with eARC.

Optical input worked as a practical workaround for one reviewer after HDMI ARC volume control caused problems, but it also changed remote-control behavior.

Value opinions were mixed but generally positive: reviewers saw strong performance for the money, while often noting the cheaper Q990C as better value for non-gamers.

Value is one of the strongest consensus points, with nearly every reviewer framing the Stage Pro as unusually capable for its low price.

Setup simplicity was strongly praised across reviews, with several calling it effortless, intuitive, or complete in minutes.

Setup is one of the clearest strengths, with reviewers repeatedly describing it as simple, easy, and quick for TV, desktop, and general use.

Design aesthetics were mostly positive for understated, sleek, high-end looks, though some found the angular design dated or severe.

Aesthetics are divisive: some reviewers liked the compact, elegant, premium-feeling look, while others disliked the gold accents or cheap-looking design.

Build quality was consistently described as premium, solid, robust, and well constructed.

Build quality is seen as solid for the price, with reviewers calling the bar well built and the soundbar/subwoofer set solidly constructed.

The SmartThings app was usually praised for easier setup and deeper control, despite remote/display limitations pushing users toward it.

Bluetooth codec support is limited by the reported SBC codec, though the same reviewer still found the Bluetooth audio acceptable.

Pairing reliability was positive where tested, with speakers pairing immediately or expected to sync automatically during setup.

Wi-Fi connection was described as surprisingly seamless with only a few blips, though HDMI was still recommended for maximum reliability.

Cabinet construction evidence was positive, with the bar described as a serious, solid piece of gear.

Chromecast compatibility was a weak point in one review because Chromecast was not supported in the US version tested.

Gaming HDMI passthrough was mostly praised as a major upgrade, though one reviewer reported a faulty HDMI port on the tested unit.

Google-related support was marked down because one reviewer specifically found the lack of US Chromecast support irksome.

HDMI 2.1 gaming support was a major strength, with repeated praise for 4K/120Hz, VRR, low latency, and console usefulness.

Physical buttons were praised as clicky rather than touch-sensitive, which one reviewer explicitly preferred.

Room calibration drew divided reactions: some reviewers said SpaceFit worked well or optimized bass, while others noticed little or no audible change.

Spotify Connect evidence was mixed: one reviewer had a maddening volume-step issue, while another called Spotify Connect a favorite feature.

Video passthrough support was praised for Dolby Vision/HDR formats and 4K/120Hz support, with one reviewer preferring TV ports for best image quality.
