Compare Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robot Vacuum vs iRobot Roomba Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo Essential, Y0140

Ease of use is generally positive thanks to simple setup, app control, and easy operation, despite some limited controls.

Review evidence supports this scored attribute.

Innovation evidence is positive, especially around Dyson’s unusual vacuuming-first design and side-duct approach.

Innovation is rated poorly by an owner who expected new features and instead called the model a step back from older alternatives.

For heavy-duty vacuuming, one reviewer strongly endorsed it for thorough carpet and whole-home cleaning when suction matters most.

Heavy-duty suitability is poor because reviewers consistently say large homes, lots of debris, pets, or carpet-heavy environments overwhelm the simple design.

Filtration earns strong praise, with reviewers highlighting a great or robust HEPA setup and good dust containment.

Filtration gets a negative owner assessment because the small paper filter is treated as non-washable and likely to need replacement.

Runtime is a major weakness, especially in Boost/Max mode, where reviewers report very short cleaning sessions and repeated charging.

Runtime is a strength, with reviewers reporting around two hours and one measured 127-minute result.

Area-rug handling is positive overall, with reviewers reporting good rug pickup but some limits in repeat-pass control.

Rug handling is a major weakness because reviewers repeatedly say rugs or carpet must be removed, blocked off, or they may be mopped accidentally.

Surface safety evidence is positive but limited, with one review saying the cleaner head removed deep dirt without scratching hardwoods.

Surface safety is a concern for messy mop jobs because ketchup reached the wheels and could be tracked around the house.

Pet-owner evidence is strongly positive: reviewers praise pet-hair pickup, reduced tangling, and a brush/filter setup that fits hairy homes.

Pet suitability is mixed to weak: hair pickup can be decent, but reviewers warn the small bin and weak mapping make it poor for pet-heavy homes.

Maneuverability is generally positive in open or accessible areas, with reviewers praising how it moves around furniture and gets to reachable spaces.

Handling is inconsistent, with good access to tight spaces offset by clumsy bumping, erratic behavior, and incomplete coverage.

The onboard bin is one of the most consistently praised usability features, with reviewers liking its size and easy manual emptying.

The bin is easy enough to remove, but reviewers criticize its small capacity and the manual emptying burden, especially around pets or larger homes.

Hard-floor hair pickup is highly rated where tested, with reviewers saying it picked up pet or human hair cleanly.

Hard-floor pet hair pickup is supported indirectly by a pet hair test, where the robot collected about 75% of laid-out hair.

Versatility is limited by the repeated absence of hybrid features such as mopping, self-cleaning, and self-emptying.

Versatility is real because it vacuums and mops, but reviewers stress that it is a better vacuum than mop and lacks the control to exploit both modes easily.

Carpet hair pickup is one of the strongest themes, with repeated praise for pet and human hair removal.

Carpet pet hair pickup is supported indirectly by the same pet-hair test, but the result is only average rather than excellent.

Cord management for the base is praised because the cord can be wrapped for a cleaner, safer setup.

Cord management is helped by a cable tidy on the dock, which one reviewer says can prevent the robot from becoming tangled in spare cable.

Crevice and groove pickup is excellent in the scored reviews, with top marks and quick debris removal.

Crevice and groove-style hard-floor pickup is supported by a broad hard-floor debris result, with TechRadar saying most debris came up on the first pass.

Under-furniture pickup is mixed: it can fit under some couches, but dark under-bed areas caused major navigation problems.

Under-furniture pickup is praised because the low body gets under furniture and tight areas.

Small-space suitability is questionable because one reviewer found the map workflow potentially awkward for studio-style layouts.

Small-space suitability is one of the product's best-supported strengths, with multiple reviewers recommending it for apartments, small homes, or closed-off rooms.

Medium-pile and general carpet pickup are strong overall, though deep-clean expectations were not always met in proportion to the raw power.

Only one review gives pile-specific evidence, noting plush carpet caused the mop section to catch, making medium/plush carpet handling merely average.

Hair-wrap resistance is excellent across reviews, with low tangle rates and repeated praise versus other robot vacuums.

Hair-wrap resistance is generally positive, with reviewers saying pet hair did not tangle or jam the brushroll badly.

Maintenance is mixed: washable/easy-access parts help, but filter saturation and replacement costs remain concerns.

Maintenance is one of the most consistent drawbacks: reviewers mention manual dustbin emptying, water tank emptying, filter care, replacement parts, and obstacle prep.

Emptying and mess control are generally good because the bin is easy and hygienic, though one review found emptying dusty.

Emptying is simple in small spaces but not hands-off; reviewers praise easy bin removal while warning that manual emptying becomes irritating with pets, dust, or combo messes.

Clogging evidence is limited and mixed, with one reviewer reporting an airway blockage after the bin became completely packed.

Debris and hair clog prevention is mostly positive, with reviewers noting stuck debris tools and husky hair not jamming the machine badly.

Scratch resistance is a concern in one review, which warns the visual-navigation lens can get scratched under furniture.

Scratch resistance is mixed because the robot gets under furniture, but one reviewer found the top scratched from doing so.

Overall opinion is mixed: reviewers admire the vacuuming power but divide sharply over whether navigation, runtime, and price make it recommendable.

Overall opinion is mixed across reviews, ranging from Editors' Choice praise to strong owner rejection based on price, mapping, and mopping limitations.

Obstacle avoidance is inconsistent: it can handle furniture and larger objects, but small objects, cords, toys, and pet accidents remain concerns.

Obstacle avoidance is weak, with reviewers describing bumping, wedging, barriers, and a need to supervise or clear obstacles.

Stuck resistance is inconsistent: some reviewers saw no stuck alerts after updates, while others reported cords, traps, and repeated getting stuck.

Stuck resistance is inconsistent, with some successful escapes and rare sticking in simple rooms, but multiple reviewers report wedging, beaching, or odd stoppages.

Accessories are minimal, but the reviewer treated the sparse box contents as sufficient rather than a problem.

The onboard accessories are praised when mentioned, especially the integrated brush/slicer tool that makes cleanup feel thoughtfully designed.

Tool access is praised in the one scored review, where reinstalling parts and handling the brush/bin felt straightforward.

Tool and mode changes are straightforward when discussed, especially the mop plate clipping on easily.

Large-debris hard-floor pickup is mixed: some tests were excellent, while one hardwood rice result was notably poor due to missed coverage.

Large debris pickup is generally strong, with reviewers citing high rice pickup, effective large-debris tests, and good dirt pickup.

Mapping and path efficiency are the largest performance weakness, with many reviewers describing inefficient, confusing, sporadic, or incomplete pathing.

Mapping and path efficiency are the clearest weaknesses; reviewers repeatedly mention no saved maps, poor navigation, missing rooms, and basic clean-history outlines.

Large debris handling is strongly positive, with reviewers praising pickup of extra-large debris, cereal, and heavy messes.

Large debris handling is good overall, with PCMag reporting competitive rice pickup on carpet and excellent hard-floor results.

Fine-dust hard-floor pickup is mostly positive when the robot actually covers the area, though navigation misses can limit results.

Fine dust pickup on hard floors is a bright spot, with strong sand pickup, fine-dust maintenance, and solid first-pass hard-floor cleaning.

Low-profile performance is weak in one review because the robot still could not fit under a media console.

The low-profile body is praised because it lets the robot get under low furniture and other tight spaces.

The full-width brush bar is praised as a major design advantage for covering more floor in one pass.

Floorhead design is mixed: reviewers like that the brushroll is easy to clean, but note the single bristle roller is less capable than iRobot's dual rubber rollers.

Build quality is mixed: one reviewer found the base flimsy, while another felt the robot itself seemed well built.

Build quality is mixed: one reviewer calls it well made, while another notes visible battle damage, scuffs, and scratches from normal navigation.

Design reactions are mixed: reviewers like the distinctive Dyson look, but some find the color, size, or visibility in a room polarizing.

Design impressions are generally positive for build and finish, though one reviewer only frames the appeal as shiny/new rather than functionally advanced.

Support and reliability evidence is limited but negative, with one reviewer criticizing slow response times and service friction.

Support and reliability has limited evidence, but Reviewed positively notes the clear warranty policy.

Price is the most consistent negative theme; reviewers repeatedly say the high cost is hard to justify given missing features and navigation limits.

Price and value split reviewers sharply; pro reviews like the affordable feature set, while owner reviews say the price is too high for the limited mapping.

Value-for-money is mixed-to-negative: one updated reviewer saw value after better cleaning, but others rejected the price.

Value-for-money is mixed: professional reviewers praise the discount-friendly budget value, while owner reviewers say it is not worth the asking price.

Setup is repeatedly described as quick, simple, and low-effort, from one-click assembly to short app-guided setup.

Setup ranges from very easy in professional reviews to somewhat tricky in one owner review, with the strongest praise for fast app setup and clear instructions.

Docking and auto-empty reliability is mixed: it can dock and recharge, but reviewers also report no auto-empty and occasional dock-return trouble.

Review evidence supports this scored attribute.

Mopping performance is effectively absent, and reviewers criticize the lack of mopping in this price range.

Mopping is mixed: some reviewers find it surprisingly good for light maintenance, while others say it only does okay work and lacks scrubbing or detergent.

Noise is a tradeoff for the suction: reviewers note strong cleaning power, but Boost and high-suction moments are noticeably loud.

Noise is generally acceptable, with owner reviews calling it quiet or not very loud compared with a regular vacuum.

Cleaning convenience is positive when used for quick everyday maintenance from a phone-controlled routine.

Cleaning convenience is context-dependent: it can save time in small spaces, but missing maps, manual maintenance, and carpet barriers reduce convenience.

Ownership costs are mixed: washable filters and no bags help, but one reviewer warns replacement HEPA filters can add recurring cost.

Ownership costs are moderate but real because reviewers point to replacement filters, side brushes, mop pads, and spare pads available for purchase.

Comparative performance is strong for raw vacuuming and deep cleaning, though tier-list and value comparisons still pull it down overall.

Comparative performance is split: reviewers praise hard-floor and dirt pickup against pricier robots, but several say other budget or higher-end robots offer better mapping and features.

Reviewers consistently describe suction and airflow as the product’s standout strength, with several tests calling it unusually powerful for a robot vacuum.

Suction and dirt pickup are broadly good for the price, although reviewers note it still lacks the power for deeper carpet cleaning.

Battery and charging are mixed to weak: Auto can be acceptable, but Boost or Max modes drain quickly and create interruptions.

Battery life is viewed favorably, with reviewers reporting about two hours of operation and PCMag exceeding the stated runtime in testing.

App and smart features are mixed: reviewers like simple mapping and controls, but many find the feature set limited versus flagship rivals.

App and automation support are useful for scheduling, voice control, remote starts, and basic automation, but reviewers repeatedly criticize the limited controls, no saved maps, and missing no-go zones.

Privacy controls are praised in one review because camera images are automatically deleted rather than uploaded.

Privacy controls receive one clear positive mention because Reviewed praises iRobot's robust data privacy policy.

Controls split reviewers: the screen and basic controls can be useful, but others find the UI limited, gimmicky, or slower to understand.

Controls and UI are easy to understand but shallow, with several reviewers describing the app as intuitive yet very basic or limited.

The chassis and wheel-climb behavior earns positive comments for crossing beams or thresholds and handling difficult terrain.

Automatic shutoff/obstruction behavior is praised in one stair test where the robot stopped and turned away instead of falling.

High-pile and deep carpet evidence is strongly positive, especially for high-pile rugs and deep-cleaning carpet.

Low-pile/carpet stress pickup has limited but positive evidence, with the robot doing well on the tested carpet debris.

Cord length receives a clear negative mention from TechRadar, which found the dock cable too short for the required placement.

Review evidence supports this scored attribute.

Energy efficiency is poor when high power is used, with reviewers calling out some of the worst battery-efficiency results they measured.

Fresh liquid pickup is strong in the one direct test, where the robot sucked up apple juice without trouble.

Hair-removal channel evidence is mixed: pickup is strong, but one reviewer saw hair buildup begin to reduce cleaning efficiency.

Lighting evidence is positive in one home test, where the top light helped it work under the bed.

Kid-friendliness is a concern in one owner review, which worries that items left out by children could be hit and toppled.

The mop system does not lift or avoid carpet automatically, so reviewers warn that users must remove pads, block carpets, or risk wet rugs.

Onboard tool storage is praised through the built-in brush/slicer tool clipped into the removable bin area.

Packaging receives one positive owner note for using cloth bags and less plastic.

The liquid system is limited by water-only mopping and no detergent, though one owner liked that it uses an electric pump instead of passive dripping.

The small charging base is appreciated for minimal footprint, though this benefit does not offset the missing self-empty dock for many reviewers.

Residue and smearing are mixed: reviewers report ketchup smearing and small remaining seeds, even though most messes were eventually cleared.

The water tank works for basic mopping, but reviewers criticize the shared bin/tank space and the need to empty unused water after each job.

Weight is a negative design factor, with reviewers repeatedly calling the unit heavy for a robot vacuum.

Airflow blowback is a minor drawback, with one tester noting the rear fan could blow stray fur aside.

Corner cleaning is mixed-to-weak: the D-shape and side duct help in some cases, but many reviewers still found missed corner debris.

Cyclone performance receives limited but positive evidence, with one reviewer crediting the Dyson funnel/cyclone structure for cleaning help.
