Compare Dyson V15 Detect Cordless Vacuum vs Gtech AirRAM 3 Cordless Vacuum

Ease of use is a major positive, with reviewers praising easy movement, satisfying cleaning, simple passes, and a pleasant overall experience.

Ease of use is one of the strongest themes, helped by low weight-in-hand, simple setup, and self-propulsion.

The attachment set is repeatedly praised as broad and useful, especially the laser fluffy head, hair screw tool, dusting tools, crevice tools, and specialized above-floor accessories.

The most consistent complaint is the lack of included tools, crevice tool, or attachment ecosystem.

Above-floor and upholstery pickup is a strength, especially with the hair screw tool and crevice/dusting attachments for couches, vehicles, shelves, and furniture.

Above-floor and upholstery cleaning are poor because it cannot handle furniture, shelves, sofas, or cars without another vacuum.

The main storage-stability complaint is that the V15 does not stand upright on its own, despite otherwise strong handling.

Reviewers strongly agreed that it stores easily because it stands upright, compacts, or avoids wall mounting.

Heavy-duty suitability is positive for everyday and deeper cleaning, with reviewers citing strong whole-home cleaning, debris pickup, and high overall removal scores.

Heavy-duty suitability is weak; extreme debris tests exposed repeated passes and limited trust for large messes.

Versatility is mostly strong across floors, pet messes, daily cleaning, and handheld tasks, though one reviewer noted the need to switch heads reduces convenience.

Versatility is consistently limited by no handheld conversion and no detail attachments, despite strong floor cleaning.

Crevice pickup evidence is excellent in one test, where the V15 quickly lifted sand from a groove and tied for the top result.

Groove and crack pickup is inconsistent, from flour in floorboard cracks to poor crevice cleaning in other tests.

Medium-pile and general carpet evidence is strong overall, with repeated perfect or near-perfect sand/deep-clean results, despite one caveat about the wrong head not reaching deep.

Medium-pile and carpet debris results are mixed, ranging from easy pickup to repeated passes and flung debris.

Hair-wrap resistance is one of the clearest strengths, with repeated praise for anti-tangle heads and hair screw performance, though one reviewer found regular cleaning still necessary.

Tangle resistance is mixed, with one reviewer seeing little caught hair and two YouTube tests finding hair wrapped or clogged.

Filtration and containment are a major strength, with reviewers repeatedly noting sealed canisters, fog/smoke-test success, HEPA-style capture, and cleaner exhaust.

Dust containment is split: TechRadar and Ideal Home praised filter or AirLOC containment, while one YouTube reviewer said dust blew out.

The laser/headlight function has limited but very positive long-term evidence, with one owner saying it kept working reliably.

Headlights are generally liked as bright or useful, though one carpet-focused review found limited benefit.

Overall sentiment is very positive: reviewers repeatedly called it best-in-class, a favorite, a top premium choice, or an outstanding all-around cordless vacuum.

Overall opinion is polarized: most professional reviews are positive, but two YouTube reviews were sharply negative.

Area-rug handling is a weak spot, with reviewers describing lighter rugs being dragged, pushed around, or lifted by strong suction.

Area rug handling is mixed: TechRadar and Mumsnet were positive, while Ideal Home had trouble on a longer-pile rug.

Emptying is generally praised as clean and easy with Dyson’s mechanism, though the smaller bin means more frequent emptying.

Emptying ranges from excellent and mostly clean to messy, exposed, or prone to debris falling out.

Hard-floor fine-dust pickup is excellent, with reviewers repeatedly praising the laser fluffy head, fine debris visibility, sand pickup, and dust removal.

Fine dust hard-floor pickup is mixed: several reviews saw excellent flour or dust pickup, but others found trails or struggles.

High-pile evidence is negative: reviewers warned it can get stuck on shag or is not ideal for high-pile carpeting.

High-pile and thick-rug performance is split, with strong suction in some reviews but struggles in deeper pile or carpets in others.

Debris illumination is a standout feature, with many reviewers saying the green laser reveals hidden dust and pet hair better than typical LED lighting.

Debris illumination is useful in the reviews that assessed it, helping reveal dust and fluff.

Under-furniture evidence is positive but mostly about visibility and access rather than a dedicated pickup test.

Under-furniture reach is split: some reviewers liked the flat profile, while one found the unit too bulky.

Bin feedback is only moderate: reviewers described the dust container as average or under one liter, implying more frequent emptying than larger cordless models.

The bin design generally impressed reviewers through dust compression and decent capacity.

Maneuverability is a major strength, with reviewers praising steering, weight distribution, tight-corner movement, and ease compared with bulkier competitors.

Handling is generally easy and self-propelled, but bulky dimensions hurt tight-space maneuverability.

Large hard-floor debris intake is generally strong, but one reviewer noted very large particles can be harder for the V15 motorhead than for a Shark dual-clean design.

Large debris intake is mixed: several tests were excellent, while YouTube and first-look tests left gravel or large clumps.

Innovation is strongly praised, especially the laser, particle sensor, auto suction, and overall premium cordless feature set.

Innovation is praised for a unique side-brush upright concept, though one reviewer felt the additions did not solve core flaws.

Low-pile carpet evidence is positive but limited, with one reviewer saying the V15 picked up debris seamlessly across low- and mid-pile carpets.

Low-pile carpet evidence is positive in the one review that singled it out.

Tool changes are split: one long-term user found Dyson parts easy to remove, while another reviewer disliked needing to switch heads for some carpet and rug messes.

Tool-change simplicity is a plus because one reviewer liked not switching heads before cleaning hard floors.

Weight feedback is mixed: many reviewers liked the V15’s lighter balance versus premium rivals, while some found the handle/trigger tiring or not the lightest option.

Weight distribution is a major strength; reviewers liked that weight sits low and reduces fatigue.

Runtime is mostly strong, often reported around 45–80 minutes depending on mode, but high-power settings and some real-world apartments exposed battery limits.

Runtime is generally acceptable at around 30 minutes, especially on full power, but it is not ideal for larger deep cleans.

Maintenance is mixed: washable parts and easy filter/bin access help, but several reviewers said the vacuum still needs regular cleaning or demanding upkeep.

Maintenance is generally praised for self-cleaning filters, but one review found the system ineffective.

Cordless convenience is praised by daily users and editors for making quick, tricky, and routine cleaning easier.

The upright cordless design was praised for grab-and-go convenience.

Hard-floor hair pickup is very strong because the laser reveals hair and reviewers saw excellent hard-floor hair visibility and removal.

Hair pickup on hard floors is consistently strong in the reviews that tested it.

Carpet hair pickup is strong, with reviewers praising the hair screw tool, high-torque brush, and minimal wrap on longer hair.

Carpet hair pickup is a major strength across multiple reviews, including pet hair and embedded hair tests.

Pet evidence is strongly positive: reviewers praised the hair screw tool, cat-hair visibility, upholstery pet pickup, and suitability for homes with shedding animals.

Reviewers who tested fur and pet-style messes found strong pickup, especially on carpets and shelter floors.

Clogging evidence is mixed: one owner reported occasional user-caused clogs, while another praised the hair-screw tool for handling large clumps of fur without clogging.

Clogging evidence is favorable, with one long-term test seeing no jams and another expecting the simple path to resist clogs.

Handheld conversion is useful for cars, stairs, tight spots, and upholstery, though one reviewer noted the handheld shape can be tiring for long sessions.

It cannot convert into a handheld, and multiple reviewers treated that as a major limitation.

Floorhead design earns praise for the balance of the motorbar and fluffy head, but reviewers also note that using two heads is less integrated than dual-brush competitors.

Floorhead design is divisive: effective sweeping and side-brush ideas are offset by bulky, cumbersome size.

Build quality is generally praised as robust, beefy, well-constructed, and durable, with several reviewers contrasting it favorably against cheaper competitors.

Build quality is praised for robust feel, high-end materials, and metal components.

Design impressions are positive, with reviewers describing the V15 as a good-looking stick vacuum with Dyson’s polished finish.

Design opinions are mixed: several reviewers liked the compact, clean, premium look, while Tom's Guide found it dated.

Stair cleaning evidence is positive but limited, with one reviewer saying the bending wand made stairs easier.

Stair cleaning is a repeated weakness because the unit lacks a handheld mode and the large floorhead is awkward on steps.

Ownership cost evidence is mixed: washable filters reduce replacement waste, but reviewers noted parts or batteries can be difficult or expensive.

Ownership costs are hurt by the likely need for a separate handheld vacuum for stairs, sofas, cars, or tight spaces.

Reviewers consistently rated the V15 as extremely powerful, with repeated praise for class-leading suction, airflow, and real-world pull on carpets, rugs, and hard floors.

Most reviewers praised strong suction on floors, hair, and debris, but two YouTube tests criticized weak airflow and carpet cleaning.

Comparative performance is mostly excellent, with the V15 often beating or ranking near the top of other cordless vacuums, though upright vacuums can outperform it on some carpet messes.

Comparative performance is strong in polished reviews and pet-hair testing, but one YouTube review said it lagged Shark and Dyson-class suction.

Noise feedback is mixed: one comparison found the Dyson more pleasant sounding, but several reviewers called it noisy or measured it as among the loudest cordless options.

Noise is a drawback: one review called the motor shrill, and another measured it as particularly noisy.

Battery and charging are mostly strong thanks to swappable batteries and dock charging, but reviewers noted short boost-mode runtime and some real-world recharge limits.

Charging and battery setup are generally liked, especially the dock or stand and reasonable charge time.

Value is polarizing: many reviewers still called it worth the money or a better premium value on sale, but price remained one of the most repeated drawbacks.

Value is mixed: build and suction help justify it, but lack of versatility and better-value rivals reduce the appeal.

Controls and UI are useful but somewhat mixed: reviewers liked the LCD, battery readout, alerts, and particle data, while some found the particle counter unnecessary.

Controls are simple and often liked, especially the foot button, but one review warned foot controls will not suit everyone.

Surface-adaptation evidence is mixed: one review praised automatic adjustment, while another criticized airflow behind the AirLOC-style system.

Blockage shutoff is viewed positively; reviewers noted it stops and gives a blockage warning.

Bin-full indication is weak; reviewers criticized the hidden bin or indicator light as hard to use or not useful.

Battery efficiency earns praise because auto modes and suction adjustment help optimize power use, though this is runtime-focused rather than measured kWh evidence.

Ideal Home praised the AirLOC seal as a major dust-containment benefit.

Hair-removal maintenance is mixed: the included tool was easy in one review, but another found hair or debris still trapped.

The adjustable handle made TechRadar suggest it could suit children doing chores.

Packaging drew a mild negative because some wrapping could not be recycled locally.

One reviewer praised rubber-coated wheels for helping protect hard flooring.

Self-propulsion is consistently praised for making cleaning easier and less tiring.

TechRadar found it did not snag on rugs or bog down, supporting good stuck resistance.

Small homes, flats, and bungalows are a better fit because runtime and floor-only design are easier to live with.

Smart automation is a clear strength: reviewers praised dirt detection, auto suction, particle sensing, floor detection, and battery optimization.

Debris blowback and scatter are recurring concerns, especially from the brushes and low airflow in tougher tests.

Corner cleaning from the side brushes is often praised, but some tests found edge suction or brush behavior imperfect.

Cyclone performance has limited but positive evidence, with one reviewer saying Dyson’s multi-cyclone separation seemed to work well.

Edge and baseboard cleaning is a standout in many reviews, though some tests found the brushes aggressive or weak at the edges.

Self-cleaning filter reactions are mixed: several praised it, while one reviewer said the results were underwhelming.

Assembly is repeatedly described as quick, simple, and easy.

Reliability evidence is mixed-positive: owners reported strong long-term reliability, but one reviewer noted comments about parts, service, and Dyson responsiveness.

Low-profile reach is useful in several reviews, but bulk prevented access under some furniture in one test.

Long-term durability evidence is strongly positive from a two-year owner who said the vacuum still held suction and stood the test of time.
