Compare SonoFlow SE HQ31 Wireless Headphones vs SoundPEATS Cove Pro

Reviewers split on sound: several called it warm, balanced or very good for casual listening, while others found it dull, average or uneven.

Sound quality is generally enjoyable and far better than the price suggests, but a few listeners heard muddiness, veiling, or a tunnel-like character that made music much less convincing.

Sound leakage evidence was limited but positive, with one review noting minimal leakage.

Sound leakage is a real weakness at higher volume, with multiple listeners reporting that nearby people could hear the playback.

ANC background noise was present in one review, but it was not considered disturbing once music played.

ANC and transparency processing introduce very little hiss or noise floor in the better-performing tests.

Spatial audio was mostly seen as a pleasant width or immersion booster, with caveats that it is not flagship-level or can sound artificial.

Built-in spatial audio is a weak point overall: a few found it mildly immersive, but several called it experimental, gimmicky, distorted, or best left disabled.

Frequency balance varied by reviewer, from a pleasant non-harsh V-shape to unbalanced, dull overall tonality.

Tonality can sound balanced and relatively flat for the class, yet one negative unit produced a strong tunnel-like coloration that badly hurt accuracy.

ANC's effect on the sound signature was favorable where tested because the tonal balance stayed essentially unchanged.

Turning ANC on can shift the sound toward more bass and a stronger V-shape; some preferred the added depth, while others found ANC-off more polished.

Audio-video sync was mostly strong, with several reviewers reporting no lag, while one reviewer heard no meaningful low-latency difference.

Video sync is excellent once low-latency mode is used, with tests reporting no distracting lag and even successful editing use.

Wind handling was mixed, with one reviewer praising wind resistance and another saying wind noise could still be an issue.

Wind handling is generally good for the price, reducing breezy call noise effectively, but stronger gusts can still break through.

ANC did not meaningfully harm audio in the reviews that evaluated it, with sound staying consistent across ANC modes.

ANC can alter the tuning without necessarily damaging it; some heard added bass and depth, while another found audio quality impressively consistent between ANC modes.

Passive isolation was decent overall, but one reviewer noted an imperfect seal while another praised low leakage and passive isolation.

Passive isolation is already useful before ANC is engaged, reducing a noticeable amount of surrounding noise.

Soundstage evidence was mixed: spatial processing and some tuning added width, but other reviewers found the stage narrow or unimpressive.

The soundstage is better than expected for a budget closed-back headphone, though impressions range from pronounced and holographic to somewhat compact and shallow.

ANC was one of the strongest points, repeatedly judged effective for the price, especially against low, steady ambient noise.

ANC is strong for the money and especially effective on fans, HVAC, engines, and transit rumble, but performance is less consistent with voices, sudden sounds, and very noisy outdoor settings.

Bass was often praised as punchy, warm and adjustable, though one reviewer felt the low-end emphasis contributed to an unbalanced sound.

Bass is usually punchy, warm, and satisfying, though several listeners found the stock low end too boomy or muddy until EQ was used.

Microphone noise reduction was praised by some reviewers for cutting background noise, but one review noted robotic or distant voice artifacts.

Microphone noise reduction handles steady background noise fairly well, but aggressive processing can soften or even cut the voice in unpredictable or crowded environments.

Immersive audio quality was mixed, as one reviewer liked vocal heightening but disliked artificial movie effects.

Immersive presentation can be excellent from the natural stereo image, but the dedicated spatial processing itself is often criticized for hurting placement or sounding artificial.

Treble was a recurring weakness in the critical reviews, described as blunt or over-exaggerated and sharp.

Treble is consistently described as smooth, crisp, and non-fatiguing rather than sharp, with enough detail for everyday listening.

Discreet/aesthetic appeal was weak in Tom's Guide, which said the headphones paled next to other sub-$50 designs.

Subtle logos and matte finishes keep the styling discreet, although the large earcups can look bulky on smaller heads.

Volume output was split, with one reviewer saying it lacked maximum volume and another calling the volume good.

Maximum output is very strong, with one test putting the headphones among the loudest options at this price.

Midrange impressions were mixed, with clear mids in one review but dipped, coarse, meh or shouty vocals in several others.

Mids are one of the safer parts of the tuning, with clear vocals and good body; the main caveat is that the V-shaped balance can push voices slightly back.

Stability was mostly good and snug, though one reviewer reported sliding during gym bench use.

The fit stays secure during movement without sliding around much.

Headband padding evidence was mixed, with one reviewer finding it too soft and another liking the padded feel.

Headband cushioning is usually soft and supportive enough for long sessions, though one tester felt the top pad pressing noticeably on the head.

Transparency mode was generally useful and sometimes excellent, though one reviewer heard some distortion in ambient sound.

Transparency mode is inconsistent: some found it natural and useful for announcements or conversation, while others heard a thin, processed sound or almost no difference from normal mode.

Android compatibility evidence was positive through LDAC use, which a reviewer said could reveal more clarity.

Android users get the strongest wireless feature set because LDAC is available and works well on compatible devices.

Connectivity options were useful where reviewed, especially wired fallback and simple USB-C plug-and-play use.

Connectivity is more flexible than expected for the class, combining stable Bluetooth, multipoint, and USB-C digital audio.

The integrated microphone received positive limited evidence from one reviewer who found the captured voice good enough for calls.

The built-in microphone performs very well for ordinary phone calls, with one customer singling call use out as excellent.

Premium feel was divided, from clearly not premium to surprisingly premium depending on the reviewer.

Materials and construction often feel more premium than expected at this price, even though the exterior is still mostly plastic and not truly luxury-grade.

Ear cup padding was consistently positive, with reviewers describing the pads as soft, cushiony or well covered.

The ear cushions are repeatedly praised for being plush, soft, roomy, and comfortable around the ears.

USB-C was viewed positively for charging and plug-and-play wired use, though cable length remained a separate complaint.

USB-C is more useful than a charging port alone on supported setups, providing direct digital audio and, in some testing, latency-free wired playback.

The rotating earcups were useful because they helped the headphones lie flat and improve portability.

The earcups offer generous swivel and rotation, helping with fit, neck wear, and compact storage.

Included accessories were a weakness because reviewers noted the bare-bones box, no case and limited included cable.

The accessory bundle is sparse: the basics are acceptable for the price, but the lack of a pouch or case keeps it feeling minimal.

Portability was strong thanks to folding or flat-rotating earcups and compact storage.

The folding design is compact, easy to store, and genuinely useful for travel or carrying in a bag.

Travel friendliness was positive, with reviewers tying the headphones to commuting, on-the-go use and long battery life.

Long battery life, light weight, comfort, and folding make these excellent travel companions, with the missing pouch or case being the main drawback.

The lack of a headphone jack was a clear drawback in the one review that evaluated analog input availability.

Analog wired support is inconsistent across the supplied experiences: some units were reported without a 3.5mm option, while one test described an available wired mode that sounded worse than Bluetooth.

Cable impressions were weak because reviewers repeatedly criticized the included USB-C cable as very short or stubby.

The included cable is functional but underwhelming: one test called it too short for wired audio and another would have preferred USB-C to USB-C.

Headband adjustment received limited but positive evidence for helping achieve a good fit.

Headband adjustment is flexible and accommodates a wide range of head sizes, though one smaller-headed user still found the fit a little large.

Multi-platform compatibility was positive in the review that tested switching between iOS/macOS and Android devices.

The headphones work well across Android, iPhone, computers, and other everyday devices, though iOS users are limited to AAC instead of LDAC.

Overall recommendations leaned positive for budget buyers, though one critical review advised saving money for another option.

Most impressions recommend the Cove Pro as an unusually complete budget option, although one strongly negative sound-quality experience shows the tuning or unit consistency will not please everyone.

LDAC was treated as a strong perk, improving perceived clarity or adding high-resolution capability for supported devices.

LDAC is a worthwhile bonus for compatible Android devices and often improves clarity and separation, though one listener found the difference barely noticeable on this hardware.

Preset EQ quality was generally useful, although Tom's Guide found only about half worth selecting.

EQ presets can make meaningful improvements, especially Bass Boost or Classic, but personalized/adaptive tuning does not suit everyone.

Hinge durability evidence was negative in the one review that judged the hinged earcups too wobbly.

The folding hardware and yokes feel sturdy and confident rather than loose or fragile.

Clamp force divided reviewers, ranging from secure and well balanced to tight enough to cause discomfort.

Clamp force is generally secure without squeezing, although one pair started out tighter before loosening with use.

Weight comfort was mixed, with some reviewers calling the headphones light enough and others finding the weight noticeable or heavy.

The roughly 250-gram weight makes the headphones feel notably light and helps them disappear during longer sessions.

Long-term durability had limited but positive evidence from one reviewer who expected the construction to last normally.

Long-term durability is less certain than the strong initial build impression; one reviewer specifically worried that the plastic could break under rougher use.

Comfort was highly split: some reviewers wore them comfortably for long sessions, while others found clamp, weight or pressure tiring.

Long-wear comfort is one of the most consistent strengths, with soft padding, low pressure, and many reports of hours of use without fatigue.

Build quality was mixed: many found it solid for the price, while others criticized plastic feel, wobble or budget materials.

Build quality is better than the price suggests, with sturdy hinges and solid assembly despite the mostly plastic construction.

Design opinions leaned positive for a simple, modern or premium look, though one review found the aesthetics weak versus budget rivals.

The design is generally clean, matte, and understated, though some find it bland or too similar to familiar Sony-style budget over-ears.

Button controls were a repeated concern, with reversed or counterintuitive mappings offset by a few comments that basic controls worked.

Physical buttons are widely liked for predictable feedback and easy operation by feel, with only a short adjustment period needed on some units.

Voice feedback was present and usable, but the reviewer described learning the non-verbal audio cues rather than clear voice prompts.

Voice-prompt volume can be adjusted, which makes the feedback less intrusive and easier to tailor.

Bluetooth 5.4 was praised for range, efficiency and current-generation capability.

Bluetooth 6 implementation impressed with especially strong range and stability in one multi-floor test.

EQ customization was a strength, with reviewers valuing custom EQ and preset controls despite one review noting no custom EQ option.

The 10-band and custom EQ controls are highly useful because they can tame excessive bass, add clarity, and tailor the sound much more effectively than the stock tuning alone.

Setup simplicity was positive overall, with reviewers describing the app or setup flow as simple, easy or seamless.

Pairing and everyday operation are straightforward, with quick reconnection and a smooth, predictable interface.

Bluetooth behavior was praised for strong range, solid connection and fast pairing across multiple reviews.

Bluetooth is a major strength, with mostly stable connections, few dropouts, and unusually strong range in several tests.

The app was polarizing: reviewers liked its controls and simplicity, but others found it buggy, laggy, crash-prone or poorly translated.

The companion app adds real value through ANC modes, EQ, gaming controls, and other settings, but its polish and labeling can feel unfinished or generic.

Call microphone quality was inconsistent but often positive, ranging from average or weak in cars/noise to excellent in several reviews.

Call quality is usually clear and very usable for work or phone calls, although a few tests found the microphone only average in tougher conditions.

Advanced features were praised as unusually generous for the low price.

The software feature set is unusually rich for this price, though the app can still lack the polish and depth of premium companion software.

Charging was praised for useful fast-charge behavior, especially five-minute top-ups that add hours of listening.

Fast charging is equally impressive, with about 11 hours of playback from a 10-minute top-up making low-battery emergencies easy to handle.

Battery life had the strongest agreement, with reviewers repeatedly calling 60-90 hour playback excellent, outstanding or top-tier.

Battery life is the standout feature: roughly 95 hours without ANC and around 58 hours with ANC is repeatedly treated as exceptional for the price.

Multipoint and dual-device switching were judged reliable and seamless where tested.

Multipoint generally switches smoothly between phone and computer, though one test found auto-reconnection unreliable after walking away from a paired device.

Codec support was praised mainly because LDAC appeared in such a low-priced headphone.

Codec support is unusually strong for the price, with LDAC alongside SBC and AAC giving the headphones more flexibility than many budget rivals.

Value was one of the clearest strengths, with reviewers repeatedly calling the headphones high-value or a strong deal for the price.

Value for money is the core appeal: most impressions say the comfort, battery, connectivity, and features punch far above the roughly $70 price, though a few listeners still regretted the purchase because of sound quality.

USB digital playback is a real strength where supported, providing clean, low-latency wired audio and even preserving ANC in one test.

The missing case or even a simple pouch is the most repeated packaging complaint and feels especially noticeable on a foldable travel-oriented headphone.

Detail is respectable for the price and can improve with LDAC, but bass-heavy tuning and occasional veiling keep it from true audiophile resolution.

Feature set at launch impressed the reviewer because the specification looked unusually strong for the price.

The headphone-finding feature is a welcome surprise at this price and was praised as genuinely useful.

The soft pads contour well around glasses and avoided pressing the frames uncomfortably into the head.

Imaging ranges from decent stereo placement to impressive positional cues for games, but some tests found the built-in spatial mode much less precise.

Separation is good when the tuning is under control or LDAC is used, but busy tracks can still sound congested or jumbled.

They can stay clear at loud playback, but very high volume can also thicken the bass enough to bleed into vocals.

Overall satisfaction is strongly positive across most of the set, driven by comfort, endurance, features, and price, but a small minority disliked the sound enough to reject the headphones entirely.

Earpad replacement can be frustrating because at least one tested pair used glued-on pads.

Pad replacement is a weak point because the earpads on one tested unit were glued on and would be difficult to swap.

Smudge resistance had limited but positive evidence from the matte finish resisting fingerprints.

Repairability is poor where the earpads are concerned because at least one unit had pads glued in place, making replacement difficult.

LDAC playback can open up the presentation with a wider, more lively dynamic range than basic SBC or AAC.

Low-latency mode works well for casual gaming, mobile play, and video, but competitive gamers may still want a faster wired or dedicated gaming solution.

The adaptive listening profile is not universally successful; one listener found the personalized result too flat and preferred manual EQ instead.

Voice assistant use was positive where evaluated, with reliable speech recognition and swift interactions.

Heat buildup depends on the user and setting: some noticed warm pleather during longer wear, while another indoor test stayed surprisingly cool.
